CrossFit Games Post Open

We would like to tell all of our members that you have done very well for your first year in the Open.  Most of you have never competed before and bravely stepped up with no experience.  With that being said, we would like to discuss where we go from here.

First, a lot of you have felt disappointed.  Please realize that what you were trying to accomplish may have been something that you have NEVER done before.  To walk in and expect to get a 20+ PR multiple times in a WOD is next to impossible.  Please accept where you are.  NEVER compare yourself to others, only to yourself.  Where were you at this time last year? Six months ago? This stuff is HARD and it takes a lot of time and effort to become proficient at it.  Do not get frustrated if you aren't setting 50 lb PR's or blowing Fran out of the water by 3:00.  A 5 lb PR IS still getting stronger! Two seconds faster is still faster.  Baby steps are still steps in the positive direction.  If you started with a 45 lb back squat and you are now back squatting 185, that's a major increase! Do NOT be bummed when you 1 RM again and get 190.  Look and where you have come from and be proud!

Secondly, we do everything for a reason and with a purpose.  Once the Open is over, we will be programming a bit differently.  "Differently" is all I'm going to say for now, just be prepared.  We highly recommend, if you want to compete at a high level, that you sign up for multiple competitions over the next year.  The competition experience is priceless.

Lastly, if you have a question or an issue, please discuss it with a coach.  We are good at what we do.  We have been trained, coached, and mentored by the best in CrossFit, we know what we are talking about.  If you are not a coach, DO NOT COACH.  You may remind someone of something we have said or help with key points but please do not take someone one on one and coach them something new.  This is for legal and safety reasons.  You MUST be CrossFit Level 1 Certified to coach.

Thank you!
