Tip of the Day
Box jumps have become a sensitive subject since Julie Foucher blew out her achilles tendon doing them at regionals a few weeks ago.  If you search around, you'll read everything from "we should eliminate box jumps all together," to "theres a risk of injury in every sport."  If you understand the point of the box jump, you'll understand why they are important to your training.  Box jumps are used to build your hip power output.  They will make you more explosive.  They will make you run faster.  The important part of the box jump is the explosive jump up, not the hop down.  So be smart and understand the purpose of the movement.  Become a better jumper.
